United States Census
United States Census is a source-collection index for the Koen Family Research Log. It does not reproduce the broad instructional material maintained by the FamilySearch Research Wiki. It records the collection structure, access boundaries, coverage warnings, and citation conventions used here.
Scope
This local reference currently covers the federal population censuses from 1920 through 1950, the years most relevant to the current Koen research. The grandparents' generation was born in 1916 and later, so earlier census years are deferred until research requires them.
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the custodian of the publicly released individual federal census records. NARA currently makes individual census records available from 1790 through 1950; this wiki intentionally documents only the 1920–1950 subset for now.

How to use this index
- Use the relevant year page to understand the record set, geography, and known limitations.
- Locate and inspect the image whenever possible; an index entry alone is derivative evidence.
- Cite the specific schedule, jurisdiction, enumeration district, page or sheet, line, household, repository, publication or roll, provider, URL, and access date.
- Use Cite census for a consistent citation.
- Record person-specific searches, negative findings, and unresolved identity questions in the Obsidian research log or the private Research namespace—not on these general collection pages.
